Some reports say that this variety is the original “Penis Envy” before the modern PE was isolated to be sold in grow kits in the 1980’s. It isn’t clear who came up with the name, but it comes from ALF, a 1980’s sci-fi sitcom. The alien in the show comes from the planet Melmac.
